Macbook sound output5/18/2023 ![]() We too were unable to find where the Sound Output Quality setting is in Mac OS 9. I restarted the Mac and found that the Sound Output Quality was indeed set at 22KHz in Monitors & Sound. So I got out my OS 8.6 installer CD and installed the System AV extension and the old Monitors & Sound control panel. However, the option to set output quality was nowhere to be found. So I went to the Sound control panel to confirm that the output quality was set to 44KHz. Then I remembered you could set the Sound Output Quality. ![]() "After installing Mac OS 9, I started having poor quality sound output from CD track rips (in Adaptec Jam, SoundApp, etc.).
